A notice was served by Lokayukta to Girish Bapat, BJP's minister of Food and Civil Supplies after he failed in curbing the dramatic rise in prices of tur dal and other pulses. Provisions as per the Essential Commodities Act were not invoked during a time when the price of tur daal shot up to Rs 200 per kg from Rs 90 per kg. Bapat's inaction led to the traders getting excess profits to the tune of Rs 4,000 crore.

The Supreme Court has struck down tenders worth Rs 6,300 cr, for supplying Take Home Ration for anganwadis, issued by the BJP govt in Maharashtra, as it was found that the Ministry was favouring big players and industrialists at the cost of women SHGs. Tenders, worth Rs 6,300 crore, were issued by the Women and Child Development Department headed by BJP Minister Pankaja Munde, by tweaking the tender requirements in such a way that it would favour a few companies. The SC ordered the issuance of fresh tenders within four weeks and also asked the state government to take necessary measures to ensure SHG participation. The Bombay High Court had earlier struck down the tenders, observing how this would create a monopoly for a few suppliers. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had denied allegations of graft raised against her.
